Most gut health advice is written for someone who eats regularly, remembers their supplements, and has enough executive function left at 6pm to make a decision about dinner.

That's not who I work with.

I work with ADHD adults who know food is part of the problem but can't seem to get consistent enough to do anything about it. Who've tried the elimination diets and the protocols and the meal plans, and watched them fall apart within two weeks not because they didn't care, but because their brain doesn't work that way.

The gut symptoms are real. The exhaustion is real. And the reason nothing has stuck yet isn't a willpower problem. It's a wiring problem that nobody in the gut health space is actually addressing.

I spent nearly two decades teaching yoga. That work taught me what chronic stress actually does to a body, not in theory, but in real time, watching real people try to hold it together.

I completed my CNP training in 2015 and spent the years after noticing the same pattern over and over: people who understood nutrition, who genuinely wanted to feel better, but who couldn't execute consistently because their nervous system was dysregulated and their brain made the logistics of feeding themselves genuinely hard.

That pattern has a name now. I call it Food Demand Burnout. It's the place where ADHD executive function, nervous system load, and the daily reality of feeding yourself collide, and it's where most gut health work falls apart before it even gets started.

I knew exactly what to eat.

That was never the problem.

What I didn't fully understand (until I had a kid and watched my executive function quietly fall apart) was that knowing what to eat and being able to consistently feed yourself are two completely different things. That's when Food Demand Burnout stopped being a clinical observation and became something I understood from the inside.
